The West Jordan Office prosecutes the cases filed at the West Jordan Courthouse. Generally, those cases include all felonies occurring in the southern half of the County and the misdemeanors in the southern areas of unincorporated Salt Lake County. The West Jordan Office is divided into two main teams:
The General Felony Team
The West Jordan General Felony Team works to expertly and professionally prosecute the felonies committed in Midvale, Taylorsville, West Jordan, Bluffdale, Copperton, Draper, Herriman, Riverton, and Sandy. Additionally, the General Felony Team screens all felonies and Class A Misdemeanors committed in Midvale, Taylorsville, and West Jordan.
Crimes prosecuted by the General Felony Team include identity theft, robbery, assault, aggravated crimes (crimes involving weapons), and homicide.
Juveniles, Special Victims, and Domestic Violence
The second prosecution team in West Jordan screens and prosecutes sensitive cases involving children, victims of sexual assault, and domestic violence that are adjudicated by the West Jordan Courthouse. This team, comprised of specialized juvenile, special victims, and domestic violence prosecutors, is charged with defending the southern half of the County against these particularly destructive crimes, and, as with the specialized teams prosecuting cases at the Matheson Courthouse, this specialized team uses its expertise to vigorously prosecute these crimes.
The offenses prosecuted by the Special Victims/Juvenile Team include sexual assault, rape, homicide, any offense committed by children, and any offense involving domestic violence.
